Whangamata Beachfront Lawn Establishment

This Coromandel Peninsula residential project involved hydroseeding a beachfront property with sandy, porous topsoil exposed to coastal wind and salt spray. Vista Environmental Landcare used a site-specific seed and mulch treatment intended to establish an attractive lawn under these conditions.

The site challenge

Fast-draining sandy ground, salt exposure and strong winds required more than a standard seeding approach. Moisture retention and keeping the treatment in place were central considerations in the application plan.

What Vista completed

Prepared the beachfront lawn area for hydroseeding.
Selected a salt-tolerant, deep-rooting seed blend.
Combined the seed with wood-fibre mulch to aid moisture retention.
Included a tackifier to help bind the treatment to the soil surface.
Applied the specialised hydroseeding slurry across the prepared site.
