Revegetation of Landslip-Affected Rail Slopes
Following severe landslips along a KiwiRail corridor in the Bay of Plenty, exposed slopes required specialist surface treatment as part of the wider remediation work. Vista Environmental Landcare applied a tailored hydraulic revegetation system using ProGanics™ Biotic Soil Media, a site-specific seed blend and soil binders
The site challenge
The slips had left steep slopes with little or no topsoil and a risk of sediment movement. Restricted rail-corridor access also made the transport and placement of conventional topsoil challenging. The treatment needed to be compatible with the site’s access, safety and remediation requirements
What Vista completed
- Assessment of exposed, steep rail-corridor slopes and treatment constraints.
- Hydraulic application of ProGanics™ Biotic Soil Media as a topsoil alternative.
- Incorporation of a custom, site-specific seed blend.
- Use of soil binders to help retain the applied treatment on steep gradients.
- Application as part of the wider post-slip slope-recovery programme.
Discuss Rail-Corridor or Slope Revegetation
For a landslip, rail, civil or exposed-batter project, share your plans, slope details, current remediation status, access constraints and programme dates. We can assess where hydroseeding, Biotic Soil Media or hydromulching may fit within the wider project.
