Coromandel Peninsula – Onemana
Residential Hydroseeding
Site Preparation and Coastal Lawn Hydroseeding
Onemana Coastal Lawn Hydroseeding on an Exposed Beachfront Property
This residential project in Onemana, on the Coromandel Peninsula, required a specialised approach to lawn establishment. With sandy soil, strong coastal winds and salt exposure, Vista Environmental Landcare developed a tailored hydroseeding treatment designed to support healthy grass growth and ground cover in challenging beachfront conditions.
The site challenge
Establishing a lawn close to the coast presents unique challenges. The property’s fast-draining sandy soil, salt spray and high winds required careful preparation and material selection.
A customised hydroseeding slurry was developed using a salt-tolerant seed blend, wood-fibre mulch to support moisture retention and a tackifier to help keep the applied materials in place.
What Vista completed
The documented project scope included:
- Site preparation before hydroseeding.
- Selection of a salt-tolerant seed blend suited to the coastal environment.
- Preparation of a specialised slurry combining wood-fibre mulch and tackifier.
- Even hydroseeding application across the prepared property.
- Additional application care on sloped areas to support ground cover establishment.
The project record reports uniform germination within a few weeks, resulting in a vibrant lawn across the treated area.
