Establishing a New Residential Lawn in Mellons Bay

Vista Environmental Landcare completed a ground-up lawn installation at a residential property in Mellons Bay. Existing vegetation was cleared, the clay-heavy ground was prepared, and a new topsoil and sandy-loam lawn mix was placed before hydroseeding the finished surface.

The site challenge

The property required careful surface preparation to address compacted subgrade and uneven contours. Decompaction, soil placement and screeding created a smoother seedbed, with attention to surface water runoff before the hydroseeding application.

What Vista completed

Cleared existing vegetation from the lawn area.
Decompacted and prepared the clay-heavy subgrade.
Imported, spread and screeded screened topsoil and a sandy-loam lawn mix.
Applied hydroseeding with perennial ryegrass, fine fescue, starter fertiliser, wood-fibre mulch and tackifier.
Provided post-care and irrigation guidance.

The project brief reports initial germination within 5–7 days and dense turf development within 3–4 weeks. These timings should be confirmed before publication.
