PROJECT OVERVIEW

Public Park Revegetation Following Civil Earthworks

Vista Environmental Landcare completed a specialist hydroseeding application at an Auckland Council park in Te Atatū following civil earthworks.

The project focused on protecting exposed soil, reducing surface erosion and establishing vegetation across the prepared park grounds.

A tailored hydraulic mixture containing council-approved seed, wood-fibre mulch, organic tackifiers and starter fertiliser was applied to the site, including sloped areas and sections near sensitive waterways or coastal margins.

THE PROJECT

The site challenge

Following the completion of civil works, areas of exposed ground remained vulnerable to rainfall erosion and sediment movement.

Sloped contours and sections bordering sensitive waterways or coastal margins required particular attention to surface protection.

The project needed to achieve consistent hydroseeding coverage across the prepared ground while supporting vegetation establishment before the park could progress towards final handover and public access.

WORK COMPLETED

What Vista completed

  1. Prepared a specialised hydroseeding mixture using council-approved seed, wood-fibre mulch, organic tackifiers and starter fertiliser.
  2. Applied the hydraulic slurry across the prepared park grounds following civil earthworks.
  3. Treated exposed soil and sloped contours to help reduce surface erosion.
  4. Applied the treatment to areas near sensitive waterways and coastal margins where sediment control was important.
  5. Achieved hydroseeding coverage across the designated site area.
  6. Progressed the project into the vegetation establishment and maintenance phase, involving monitoring, irrigation and weed management.

Initial grass germination was expected within 7–14 days. At the stage described in the project brief, the park was awaiting full vegetation establishment before final council sign-off and reopening for public use.

Why Choose Vista Landcare

We stand behind the quality of our work.

If areas of your hydroseeded site fail to establish as expected, we’ll return and repair bare patches free of charge. It’s part of our commitment to delivering results you can rely on.

Bespoke Hydroseeding Mixes

Every site is different. Whether you’re dealing with steep slopes, rough terrain, drought-prone areas, or erosion and washout risks, we tailor our hydroseeding mix to suit your site’s unique conditions and deliver the best possible establishment results.

Hydroseeding That Holds Firm

One of the biggest challenges with traditional seeding is seed wash-off caused by rainfall, irrigation, wind, and exposed conditions.

Our advanced hydroseeding techniques and carefully selected mulch blends help bind seed to the soil surface, reducing erosion and significantly improving seed retention. The result is better coverage, fewer bare patches, and stronger establishment across the entire site.

Steep Slopes & Difficult Terrain? No Problem

Hydroseeding is particularly effective on areas where conventional seeding methods struggle.

From embankments and steep batters to large construction sites and difficult-to-access terrain, our equipment allows us to apply hydroseeding efficiently and evenly across challenging landscapes.

Better Moisture Retention

One of the key advantages of hydroseeding is its ability to retain moisture around the seed during the critical establishment phase. Our specialised hydroseeding mix helps hold moisture where it’s needed most, supporting faster germination, stronger root development, and healthier, more resilient vegetation that can better withstand dry conditions.

• Locks in moisture around the seed
• Supports faster germination and stronger root development
• Improves drought resistance and long-term lawn health
• Reduces the risk of patchy growth during dry periods

Sustainability First

We’re committed to environmentally responsible landcare practices. Wherever possible, we source natural materials and sustainable products that support healthy vegetation growth while protecting the surrounding environment.

By combining effective erosion control, vegetation establishment, and environmentally conscious methods, we help create landscapes that are both resilient and sustainable.
